Born in 1948 in Couches, on land belonging to the dukes of Burgundy, Jean-Claude Bligny began his artistic training at the Beaux-arts in Mâcon and Nice. In 1969 he was admitted to the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art plastique in Paris. For a time he worked as an art teacher in Montélimar. During the same period he met some French Budhist monks. This took him along a spiritual path and profoundly influenced his work.
